Leah Seator and
SAS Blues
are
one of Orkney's most exciting new collaborations.
Formed purely for a "one-off" spot at last year's Orkney
Blues Festival, the band received such critical
acclaim
that they decided to continue to work together. Since then,
they have spent time writing and recording when time allows,
and are hoping to get out and play in 2006.
The band have performed two live sessions with BBC Radio
Orkney, among other live
gigs,
and SAS are also booked for this year's Shetland Blues
festival.
Although setting out initially to be a blues orientated act,
SAS Blues exploring many styles of music, from bluesy
classics to rocky ballads, and a few jazzy numbers for good
measure. Currently building up a set of original material,
their self penned songs are contemporary, and written with a
fusion of many styles in mind.
Stewart Shearer is one of Orkney's most exciting and
dynamic guitarists, having performed for more than twenty
years in and outside of the music scene in Orkney. He can be
spotted performing with Three Peace Sweet from time to time,
and is the author of the now famous Ba Song
Ian MacKay can be seen performing with award wining
local band, Shogun outside of his bass-playing duties with
SAS, and like Stewart has worked in music in and outside of
Orkney for many years.
Drummer Graham Simpson has performed in several
different outfits before SAS, most of which were rock
orientated. When not performing with SAS Blues, Graham can
be found running workshops with Orkney's young musicians,
and enjoys a reputation of a versatile drummer, keen to
perform whenever the opportunity arises.
Leah Seator started singing in Orkney with local
blues rock band, Blue Mother when she was 15. Now 24, Leah
is more confident as a vocalist than ever, and is enjoying
singing in a more acoustic, soulful and laid back
collaboration.
